The revival of the Volkswagen Beetle has had a major impact on the aftermarket. One such aftermarket tuner is projektzwo which resides in Germany. This company prefers the better German marques for the average man on the street like Volkswagen and Audi. Tuning in Germany is big business. The Germans always had extra cash for their cars and this led to the booming of this industry. The VW Beetle pictured here actually 1.8-litre turbo with some added oomph provided by an improved cooling system as well as a special air filter which is boosted by the special free-flow exhaust system.

The whole effect that the bodykit gives is that of a wolf in sheeps' clothing. Believe me when I say that this car draws attention wherever we went. So much to the point that it started becoming irritating. The bodykit comprises a front spoiler with integrated fog-lights, aerodynamic mirrors, side skirts and wider wheel arches as well as a rear spoiler with boot apron. The car is lowered by 30-40mm with the help of shorter shocks and stiffer springs. The wheels are in massive 18" configurations and because the wheels arches are wider, so are the wheels too. From a performance point, the car has a maximum speed in excess of 145mph. However, the car has become heavier on fuel. The car has the potential to out perform any 2.0-litre car.

In conclusion, this car is something of a surprise to us after a drive in the Audi S3 which has the exact same engine.
